Excellent, userfriendly crossword app, but there are two main bugs that are irksome. 1) if I use the hint function, return to the puzzle and then tap the timer, it wont let me return to the puzzle; 2) if I switch puzzles, navigating between sections using the arrows sometimes skips rows/columns.

Cruciverb + pro account = the best

This app still hasnt reached the level of polish that its predecessor Crosswords Classic had. It has some new functionality (like syncing), but other than that its an inferior experience. Mostly thats due to occasional bugs that you will encounter. They are not bad enough to make the app unusable, but do provide minor annoyance at times. A major quirk is that on the iPhone 5S at least, you dont see the full crossword in view when viewing upright. Even when zoomed out fully, the bottom is hidden and you have to pan up or down. This is true even for small ones like the NYtimes mini crossword. The old app doesnt have this behavior. This might be due to the fact that Crosswords Classic uses its own keyboard which is optimized for real estate. This new app uses the default size of iOS keyboard and this hides much of the crossword. Please bring back the custom keyboard from Crosswords Classic. Some bugs - 1. On the iPad, the app behaves very buggy when using a Bluetooth keyboard. Turning off Bluetooth sometimes doesnt bring back the keyboard like it should. You have to kill the app and re-open. 2. Deleting and re-downloading puzzles (via long press on the date) can be buggy. Sometimes puzzles dont appear to have been deleted, when you actually have. 3. Sometimes when you view info there is no way to get back to the puzzle. You have to kill the app and re-open. In general, the app needs some work. It is one of the best crossword apps out there, but the same developers Crossword Classic is still better. That apps layout it more intuitive and most importantly the keyboard allows you to visually see the entire crossword. Most importantly, the new app needs some major bug fixing. Hope the developer gets round to it soon.

The just released update renders the app un-useable! Nothing works! Used to be able to touch a column or row and go to that place but that does not work after the update. Cant get back to the puzzle menu anymore either. Dont bother with this app until they fix it. Uninstalling it.

Lots of bugs, no indication theyll ever be fixed. Best game in town for crosswords on iPhone, and that makes me sad.

I especially like the good ergonomics. Works well with built-in keyboard and with a Bluetooth keyboard. Single square reveal keeps you more honest.

Love the app, but after the latest update some of the horizontal lines between rows flicker on the iPhone 6

A lot of crosswords and different sources! Definitively the ultimate crosswords app!

Very well thought out interface.

This is the perfect crosswords game! It has the simple (for people like me) and the challenging for crosswords pros! I like the backgrounds of the loading screen. And it is set up in a user friendly manner. This game is enjoyable and I would recommend it for anybody, especially for long car rides and such.

I have been loving this app since my days with an original iPad. Without hesitation, I paid the fairly hefty premium for the full version. I am disappointed that I cant recommend the current version—its buggy, and the developer has been slow or outright unresponsive to my bug reports and suggestions. Some of the bugs are deal-breakers.

This app is consistently rated as one of the top crossword apps but it has stability issues on multiple iPads (Retina, Air 2). Switching to and from the app causes the grid of puzzles to freeze or show a blank screens. Frequently puzzles in progress will be displayed in the grid of puzzles as all black. The only fix is the kill the app and restart it. It’s been this way for months so if this is the best app for crosswords on iOS, I’m can’t imagine what the other lower-rated ones are like.

The app works, but there are frequent drawing and navigation glitches. It often takes two or three taps of the Menu button to actually get the menu. And the menu itself! I realize the developers probably thought it would be cool to have it pop over the current square, but the fact that the buttons are really small and they move around means you have to look closely for the button you want then tap carefully on the right one every time. Sometimes, tapping the arrow to skip to the next clue in fact skips to the one after that—or it it just doesn’t skip at all. Theyve had years to get this right, with this and the Crosswords Classic app. Bugs are fixed, only to reappear a few versions later. All in all, it’s quite maddening and frustrating.

So this app recently stopped connecting to the Internet... None of the websites attached to the app including developer sites are working either. Time to look for a new app.

As of Monday October 26, this app stopped pulling in new puzzles, including ones for which I have paid subscriptions. But... now as of October 31 it works again! HIT THE MUSIC

Took a little while to get used to the new flat UI, but its grown on me, i like it

I used the old app, but the new one feels much faster. Great job!
